What Is Iaido?
Iaido is the way of drawing the Japanese sword, or katana. It is an art that dates back at least 450 years, towards the end of the period of civil strife in Japan, developed for the purpose of defending one self against unwarranted attacks, especially in civilian life.
There are many styles or lineages in iaido. Our lineage of iaido is called Musō Jikiden Eishin-ryū (無雙直傳英信流), a lineage that traces its history to the founding father of Iai, Hayashizaki Jinsuke Minamoto no Shigenobu.

In Iaido, practitioners learn to use the katana to forestall or counter another similarly armed opponent(s). For practice purposes, we use bokken or non-sharpened iaito.
As with many other forms of “Do”, the central integral part of Iaido practice focuses on tempering the practitioner’s patience through rigourous, detailed practice; being calm in the face of conflict; and seeking victory without drawing the sword.

Who We Are?
We are a small community of practitioners studying under the auspices of the Japanese Headquarters of Eishin Ryu Iaido (Ippan Shadan Houjin Seitou Seiryu Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido Kokusai Renmei), of which we are under the direct supervision of Kobara Kenichi sensei, 8th Dan Hanshi.

Is there an organization this school belongs to?
Yes! We belong to the International Iaido federation, Seito Seiryu Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Kokusai Renmei (一般社団法人 正統正流無雙直傳英信流居合道国際連盟), under the leadership of Esaka Seigen, 10th Dan Hanshi.
Besides that, our dojo has strong friendships with dojos in Taiwan, the USA, Canada, Indonesia, and Japan.

Be humble, and have an open mind.

We currently have one sensei and two assistant sensei.
We also have regular visits from senseis across the globe, from Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia and the US. Iaido seminars (on-hold until further notice due to on-going Covid situation) are held at least annually for our members from beginner to advanced levels.

Do I need to buy my own uniform / equipment to join as beginner?
Beginners need to purchase uniform comprising gi, hakama and obi, while training equipment will be provided initially.
