Principals Academy Inc (PAI) was established on 14 November 2003 as a joint venture between Academy of Principals (Singapore) and Economic Development Board (EDB) in response to Singapore Government’s vision of developing the nation into a thriving international education hub.
新加坡校长学院(PAI)成立于2003年11月14日，是新加坡校长学院和新加坡经济发展局的合资企业，旨在响应新加坡政府将国家发展成为蓬勃发展的国际教育中心的愿景。

As we progress into the 21st century, the education landscape is constantly evolving around us. With current skill sets that become rapidly obsolete with each new wave of technological advances, there is a pressing need to train our students to be able to adopt new technical skills and competencies to stay competitive in the workforce. In today’s society, it is the inability to move beyond one’s basic education, to unlearn the obsolete and relearn the relevant, which ultimately renders someone illiterate.
At Principals Academy, we believe in the importance of imparting to people the ability to learn, unlearn and relearn, allowing them to constantly reinvent themselves in an act of perpetual continuous learning. Most of all, we believe that his revolution in educating our young must begin with our educators and parents. Through partnerships with renowned universities, trainers and resource providers, we strive to provide a wide range of teaching resources, training sessions and academic programmes aimed at improving the way we teach our students how to teach themselves.

Core Business
Forming the acronym P-A-C-E, our core business revolves around the provision of Professional Development, Accreditation, Consultancy and Enrichment to Educators and Learners alike.
Professional Development – In addition to Organising and hosting world-class conferences and events, PAI provides quality seminars, workshops and programmes that enhance the capability of our educators as well as encourage Continual Learning. Our Professional Development programmes cover a wide range of topics ranging from courses in Educational Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Classroom Management and Student-Centred Learning.
Accreditation – PAI provides Academic Programmes for educators seeking to pursue further studies in the education field. In addition, we offer Certification Tests for International Students seeking to study in Singapore as well as General Ability Test for schools and institutions wishing to examine their students general reasoning ability. PAI also administers the Ministry of Education’s School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans (SPERS-JC/MI).
Consultancy – PAI serves as a gateway for overseas educator clients and partners who wish to learn from Singapore’s experience in education. We provide consulting and support to regional clients in the following areas: Comprehensive Education, School Management and Curriculum development. PAI currently supports our local schools through the provision of consultancy in offering advice and consultancy in Strategic Leadership, Assessment, Pedagogy and School effectiveness. We bring in internationally renowned trainers to develop reports, recommendations, and frameworks that will enrich the work of schools and education institutions.
Enrichment – PAI provides additional education-related services aimed at increasing international exposure and enriching individual wellbeing. Such services include, but are not limited to; planning & administrative support for Sabbaticals, arrangement & coordination of Overseas Study Trips, Organisation of Education-Related Events as well as the provision of quality educational resources.

Community Outreach
At PAI, we committed to improving the quality of life in the society that we operate in. We wish to share the Organization’s success with the broader community, with an emphasis on investment in people – particularly children and youths with perceived social and behavioral challenges – to develop confidence, imbibe values and build capabilities in our targeted groups.
Principals Academy Inc is proud to have played a key role in supporting “Stories Teachers Tell 2011”, Organized by Academy of Principals (Singapore) in collaboration with the Curriculum Planning & Development Division and National Education Branch, Ministry of Education, Singapore. The writing contest saw over 200 Singaporean teachers sending in their stories. 12 selected entries will be published as a series of books to be included into the current school curriculum, and the authors of the respective entries will be sponsored on a one-week study trip to New Zealand.
We are keen to work with partners from schools, community or industry to explore joint funding or research on projects and initiatives that will benefit society and our next generation. If you are keen to explore this further, please send your proposal and any accompanying material to info@pai.sg.

Key Milestones
In March 2003, the Economic Development Board (EDB) identified an opportunity to create an education-related enterprise to supplement our nation’s vision of becoming the leading education hub in Asia. Leveraging on the strong network connections that Academy of Principals (Singapore) has built with senior educators and relevant government authorities, PAI was established at end of 2003 as an enterprise arm.

14 November 2003: Incorporation of PAI as a Joint Venture between Academy of Principals (Singapore) and Economic Development Board of Singapore.
June 2004: Commencement of Principal Academy Certification Test (PACT), a centralized admission testing for international students.
8 Nov 2004: Official announcement by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education, about the establishment of PAI.
June 2005: Establishment of PAI’s Advisory Council comprising of senior educators, many of whom are current or former school principals.
June 2006: EDB’s divestment of PAI, which leads to its status as being a wholly-owned private entity of APS.
27 September 2006: MoU signed with Korean Digital Herald, leading to the establishment of PACT-Korea
July 2007: Zhengzhou Visit
August 2007: Launch of the School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans (SPERS JC/MI)
