Firstly, I was not always a very sporty person, it was only after that I came into contact with Taekwondo was when I became fitter and grew taller. I learn to do patterns during curriculum lessons which allows me to enhance my hand and legs coordination. I was able to balance better as well! For example, punches, sidekicks, back stance and horse stance.
Secondly, practicing Taekwondo has allowed me to be more confident through experiences such as the National School Games. Practicing patterns had strengthened my discipline and focus. Since I needed to be focused to learn the pattern from coaches and I also needed to have the discipline to practice so that I would not forget the movements of the pattern.
Lastly, Taekwondo has helped me make many new friendships. I was able to use it as an opportunity to talk to more people from other classes and make friends along the way. We would say hi with a bow to one another with a smile on our faces when we met in the corridors since respecting one another was also something Taekwondo had taught us.
In conclusion, Taekwondo promotes physical fitness, flexibility, also enhances coordination, balance and agility. Moreover, practicing Taekwondo can increase self-confidence, discipline, and focus. It also allows us to learn to be respectful to one another and creates and opportunity to make friends.
